TSN has the contract as $3.1 / 4 yrs, or $12.4 mil total.

A pinch high for my liking, but that's what you pay for youth and potential, I suppose. He's a smart Dman and defensively responsible, but he's small and it's not really clear if he'll ever be effective offensively.

If we could sign Mesz to the same deal right now, I'd be more than content. I'd have to think we're going to have to pay more than this for the same term, tho', given that Mesz is a lot farther along than Vlasic at the moment.

If we could sign Meszaros to 3 million for 2, maybe 3, years, I'd be pretty happy with that. However, I must say, I think Vlasic is making a tad too much. I would have thought 2.75 for him would have been a nice sum. I mean, he's never been an offensive producer, even at the minor level. But he is steady in his own end, I just don't think 3.1 million per steady.

No argument here. I thought $2.5 mil / yr would be fair.

It speaks volumes, however, about the current state of the market and the going rate for steady Dmen. It makes me all the more nervous that we'll end up paying Mesz more than we should. Stupid inflation.
