I love how the next Game day topic after a win is all about "How to stop X how to score on Y". And the game day topic after a loss is "Trade X for Y and a 1st, or Prospect Z won't be ready before X years :lol!:

right now, both Heatley and Spezza have more goals than Crosby...and that's playing on a crap disinterested team.....

Not to wave a Crosby flag, but Spezza and Heatley's goals don't translate into leadership and don't add up to progress in the standings.

Here are the stats:

Penguins 24-21-4 52 pts
Senators 16-22-7 39 pts

Crosby 18-46-64 2nd in scoring
Heatley 21-22-43 32nd in scoring
Spezza 18-20-38 48th in scoring

Crosby may annoy some people, but Mssrs Spezza and Heatley have yet to show they are his equal.

"A crap disinterested team"? Maybe it's Jason and Dany who are disinterested...?

Best case scenario: We win the lottery with the Isles winning the #2 pick. We then flip the #1 pick for the #2 and say, a #1 in 2010. That way we still get Hedman, and a real shot at Hall in 2010. That draft should be pretty nice at the top as well. :D

Best case scenario (provided by my buddy):

Trade Spezza and Heatley for the Islanders #1 overall. Get the 2nd overall pick. Draft Hedman and Tavares. Suck next year as well. Draft Hall. Karlsson comes up, Wiercioch comes up. We kill it.

Unless they bust, and the losing causes this team to lose so much money that we have to move to Hamilton.

That's an exaggeration, obviously, but do you really think the team can handle two straight awful seasons? In fact, it would probably be 3-4 straight.

I think the team and city can handle the losing if the effort is there. They are not starting from scratch, but again, having a team who plays with heart and an edge, and fans going to the game knowing they will get everything the players have to offer, people will lay off quite a bit I think.

A youth movement in Ottawa is exactly what I think is in order, the Sens have gone from one of the youngest teams in the NHL to one of the oldest in a matter of a few seasons.

Its all about effort, from a front office point of view and the on ice product. Ill be a season ticket holder the whole time through a rebuild, but wont be if its just status quo.

Can someone remind me why the hell I pay $30/month for Centre Ice when I can't get this game? Diddle this is frustrating. I bought the goddamned package to see every hockey game, as it clearly states. Awful.

Does anybody know if you can stream it online anywhere????

NHL Network is part of a separate pay package.

I asked myself that question when PPV came into the picture and I didn't renew. Best money I ever saved.

Trade Spezza AND Heatley for 1 1st round pick? Here's my answer to that: complete Diddle insanity. Either guy is worth that pick+++.

I know it's hard to focus on these things right now with them (and the entire team) playing badly, but re-adjust the TV set, man: as perennial PPG+ players, Spezza and Heatley are still among the NHL's elite. You don't trade 2 birds-in-hand for 1 bird-in-the-bush, let alone 1 bird-in-hand for 2 birds-in-the-bush.

LOL, that was well said. There was more to the discussion than that, it was the power to outbid any team at any point in the summer for J-Bo. That's a pretty big part that I left out actually. Hypothetically, if I could trade Spezza and Heatley for the 1st overall and have the 2nd overall as well and have the cap space to get J-Bo (probably be able to add more than just that actually)...well, I'm adding Tavares - whos compete level appears looks awesome - and Hedman to go along with Karlsson and Wiercioch and J-Bo. Not to mention that I had amended the original trade to include Okposo or preferably Bailey. I'm looking at having:

______ - Tavares - Alfredsson
Foligno - Bailey - Fisher
Winchester - Vermette - Kelly
Ruutu - Bass - Donovan

J-Bo - Phillips
Volchenkov - Lee
Picard - Smith

with Hedman, Karlsson and Weircioch on the way.

I could open some more room up if I could unload Kelly, but as some have pointed out, he's a guy to use when you have a lead, not when you're trying to get a goal back. Same applies to Smith. Maybe get Erik Cole if possible in the summer. Maybe you could actually make a huge play for Hossa.

I disregarded it at first, but it's actually a really quick rebuild if you could pull it off.

Anyway, that was just my explanation of why I thought about it. It would obviously never happen - nor do I really want it to happen (people know I'm still heavily behind Spezza and Heatley and feel they can pull themselves out of this Dung and maybe even be better players for it).

Call and order NHL Network right now. It costs you a toonie a month - and has by far the best highlight package on TV every night.

It's literally a phone call away - and I feel it's very worth it.

Actually for all the negativity I sometimes allow myself to delve into in regards to Spezza or Heatley, the fact is they are, as Rooney pointed out, 2 birds in hand, and I do mostly feel that if these past 2 seasons haven't had ANY effect on them besides what it feels like to be boo'ed incessantly by your home crowd it's that I'm hoping it somehow motivates them to realize that they are or were the crowd favorites (Alfie is in this of course as well) and that they should use the past adversity and challenges to build upon and hopefully dig themselves out from this funk. I know it sounds silly, but from personal experience, I found myself in a massive depression for over 3 years and the worst part, or slightly ironic part if you will, is that I felt a sense of normalcy and complacency with being funked and completely unmotivated, so much so that I became so used to it and comfortable that the idea of being different or returning to normal seemed impossible, let alone not too appealing.

All that to say that with a few tweaks and changes here and there, once this team begins to gel and play together as unit and taste victories more often, I am more than confident that they can ALL pull themselves out of this spiral and feel like winners and a team again.

Just my current 2 cents worth anyway.

I canceled my NHL CI package as well as the Sports Theme package. My Rogers bill was WAY too big. Time to start looking at expenses, again.

You aren't out of market though. CI is an out of market product. They don't guarantee anywhere that you will get every home game since they are still subject to blackouts.

I live in Calgary, and in theory, should get every Sens game, save for the one last month they played here. I too, have had games that weren't on CI. I had to pop for the extra cost of the NHL Network. Such a Diddle scam. It's not the $5 a month that pisses me off, it's the fact that I feel misled into buying CI for $200, then having to shell out another red cent.

The best place to watch hockey streams is hockeystreams.com. It's a pay site, but it's way way better than the NHL's GameCentre, and you can sign up for HD. It's only 50 for the entire year. Next year I dump CI and go with that. Diddle it.

The problem these days is TSN2 and NHL Network have exclusive games that NHL CI can't touch. So, unless you subscribe to everything, chances are you'll miss a few games.
