That's what I'm saying. Grit, experience etc does not matter in this tournament. What has Howden, Jenner or Visentin done in this tourney? Sweden and Russia have how many returning guys in their line ups? Probably less than 5 combined.
Danault, Murphy, McKinnon may not be game changers but they have more skill and skate better than half this team and that's what you need in short tournaments because those guys are not tired they can save enough stamina to skate fast for the whole 2 weeks. The power play alone could have changed the momentum of this game and it's clear Beaulieu and Hamilton are not PP QBs.
The last time Canada won Gold they were the best skating team and their PP was unstoppable. Ellis and SUbban were skating up and down the ice and nobody could stop them.
Sweden and Russia are the best skating teams in the tournament and that's why they are in the finals.

Boone Jenner was excellent in this tournament for the role he was given, not sure what you were watching. Quinton Howden was a returning player and should have been used more. He is a very skilled player himself.

And AGAIN talking about Danualt? Leads me to believe that you don't really know who he is.

Because Canada doesn't have many top prospects in the NCAA right now. There's Jaden Schwartz, and that's about it. Phil Di Giuseppe as well, but he was cut, and he isn't a big prospect.

Not making any excuses, cause the Russian outplayed the Canadians. No ide what happened in the 3rd, but that was close and a lot of edge of seat excitement.

The Russians have a lot of tremendous skill. Their goalie, espite the 3rd, was awesome. Then there's Kuznetsov, Yakupov, Galchenyuk and Grigorenko... so much talent. It's unfortunate for the NHL fans that a lot of them won't showcase their skills for them.

It seems a lot of the teams have had a superior goalie. Mrazek is sensational, not only skill wise, but just so much fun to watch. You can always count on the Finns and Swedes to produce goalies.

Canada hasn't had a great goalie for a while now. Interesting comment via Twitter that Canada hasn't produced as many (starting?) NHL goalies recently as other countries.

Canada's talent pool is huge, granted, but there always seems to be disparity between the leagues. Always questions why some players are left off for others. People are always going to look back in hindsight and say "so and so" should have been on the team instead of "so and so".

I've read that few kids want to be goalies these days, everyone wants to be Crosby etc.

Just wanted to point out that Galchenyuk, although of Russian parents (well, Belorussian), was born in Milwaukee. I think he opted to play for the US at the national level. And he certainly wasn't playing in the WJC as he tore his ACL in October.

I know who he is thank you, that's why I mention him. He's a good setup player and would have helped the PP.
I watch a lot of Q games because I have Vox channel and I would never talk about a player I don't watch.
Jenner was playing a role that was not needed, plain and simple.
Howden is a player with tunnel vision who has wheels.
You know why Canada struggled for 2 periods in this game? They couldn't get any forecheck going and didn't have any backup gameplan to compensate for it. Then they took advantage of a team that played the night before in OT who were leading 6-1 after 2 periods.
Anyways, I don't even really care that much about this.

People who criticize Boone Jenner's addition on the team could not have been watching the same games I was. The guy was fantastic (save his "spear" which was a terrible call).

If it was a "best on best" tournament then Canada would destroy the tournament (see 2005), so people up in arms need to take a step back.

Visentin with the shutout of professional bronze finalists Finland. Oh if only Hay played him in the semi-final.
