So... Ovie got called for a slew foot in the Caps-Thrashers game last night. I wonder if the NHL even give him a fine? Doubt it.

That one resulted in a head injury... so the "double-standard" will apply I'm sure by factoring in whether or not the other player was injured. But, Colin Campbell has been on record saying he's going hard after slew footing as he feels it is a very dangerous move.wprager wrote:Artyukhin just got suspended 3 games for a slew-foot that wasn't even caught by the refs. It would look really, really bad on the NHL if they show a double-standard that is *this* blatant.
Yeah, in open ice, chances are your head hits the ice first. Against the boards you can at least hopefully grab the ledge and slow down your fall. Dangerous move no matter which way you cut it.N4L wrote:Open ice that the slew foot is way more dangerous then against the boards. The boards do break your fall a bit. I still dont think this one way that big of a deal, that play happens ALL the time.

I'm sure he had the cash on him.
