We looked to be screwed as far as getting a top 6 forward. Montreal really overpaid for Cammalleri. Higher cap hit than Hossa.

Its kind of hard for them to do anything until they find out whats happening with that 7.5 million dollar cap hit of Heatleys.
Dany really wants to screw us over, doesn't he? :^^^^:
What's he going to do next, kidnap Alfredsson?
Havlat won't come back, I'm sure he wants a ton of money anyway. Koivu would be a nice addition to a team that is close to contending - that's not us. Tanguay I think is legitimate at 4M but he probably wants more.Vandelay wrote:Nothing has really changed for us as far as the UFA signings go. Sure we'd like to have had the deal done by now but in my mind, the three UFAs I'm most interested in are Tanguay, Koivu, and Havlat.
We already have our Steve Sullivan.RobbyJ wrote:There goes Steve Sullivan. 2 year 7.5M in Nashville. I think he really wanted to stay there. Another top 6 off the board. I didn't want him anyway.
Ya, I'm sure someone will over pay Havlat for one healthy season but I think Koivu would fit well on our second line. Remember, he was way over used in Montreal. I would prefer him over Tanguay...but would for sure take Alex at 4.25...no more.RobbyJ wrote:Havlat won't come back, I'm sure he wants a ton of money anyway. Why sign someone on their last legs when we are at least a couple years away from contention.Vandelay wrote:Ya, I'm sure someone will over pay Havlat for one healthy season but I think Koivu would fit well on our second line. It needs to be filled by someone...certainly prefer Koivu over someone like Comrie. I bet Koivu's got another 2 or 3 years left in him.RobbyJ wrote:Why sign someone on their last legs when we are at least a couple years away from contention.Vandelay wrote:Ya, I'm sure someone will over pay Havlat for one healthy season but I think Koivu would fit well on our second line. That's Alfie, Phillips and Fishers job.asq2 wrote:Koivu could be a good influence on Spezza. That's one advantage I see to signing him.
Who in Bingo do you envision stepping up to play 2nd line center minutes??? That's second PP and possibly PK as well...a lot of minutes to fill for someone that hasn't played in the NHL yet.RobbyJ wrote:^I don't want Comrie either. I'd rather give someone in Bingo the job. We are not in a position to use short term solution.
Fisher will continue to be the 2nd line centre since we only have 2 top 6 forwards anyway.Vandelay wrote:Who in Bingo do you envision stepping up to play 2nd line center minutes???
