Brodeur has been the franchise for the last 15 or so years. he has been there for every cup, and has backstopped them to numerous winning seasons. Kirk Mueller is a close second, and Stevens is a distant third.

Brodeur.

I struggled with this one but I had to say Stevens. He struck fear into opponents.

Edit: The more I think about it Brodeur does seem to be the logical choice. I will still stick with Stevens though.

I went with Brods because it's hard not to go with arguably the best goalie of all time.

I went with Brodeur. If you expanded the poll to include non players, I think it would be a tossup between Brodeur and Lou.

Brodeur is #1 without question or debate

Stevens would have to be #2, Muller isn't even close

Muller was the captain and leader of that team before they were good.

Marty for me. His influence transcends just the Devils though; he arguably caused the lock-out because so many teams tried to imitate the Devils without having a guy like Brodeur to act as a 3rd defenceman.

From my husband who was and still is a huge Devils fan.

Brodeur is the most logical and popular choice, but consider that the devils had Brodeur playing for them and still have him playing without success. It took players like Stevens to bring the intensity and leadership it takes to win championships.

While no one will get an arguement from me about Brodeur being the biggest impact, it's my opinion that without Stevens on that team, the Devils would never have got close to winning a Cup.

Without Brodeur, this team would never have won a Cup. Period.

So then technically if people are picking Stevens, does Shanahan get votes by proxy since Stevens came to Jersey as compensation for St Louis signing Shanny?

Brodeur by 50 to 1 over Stevens and 75 to 1 over Neidermayer.
