Boychuck ends career due to an eye injury. guess he's still got a season to be paid by insurance.
probably helps the isles quite a bit with their cap space. would they have trade toews though?

This (LTIR or retirement) gives the Isles the perfect amount of room to sign Barzal. They didn’t have room for Toews regardless. That’s how f’d they were.

It's the power of no taxes. He's probably making the equivalent of $6.5M + in a Canadian market. Only a three-year deal too. He's going to cash-out big time on his next contract.

Boychuk forced to retire. Isles cap woes severely lessened.

It was fun going through his Twitter account a couple days ago and helping him delete all his old posts. Some of his prior work was Ottawa-focused and to say he was critical of their recent drafting was be an understatement. Now, he doesn’t care.

I was just able to get a look at his contract/restrictions. He basically can’t post anywhere anymore as his intellectual property could be used against the Canes by other teams. What a week this has been. Exciting times. Fuel.

Anyone have any guess as to when they'll actually try to have a season? From the sounds of it the NHLPA and NHL haven't agreed to anything regarding training camp and beyond, so I'm guessing we're still a long ways off....
