We 100% should be looking for quality over quantity, but those aren't necessarily the types of deals that get made towards the deadline. Getting *something* is always better than getting nothing for guys we might lose anyways to free agency. It's going to be an interesting four weeks leading up to the deadline, but I don't really think we're going to do anything that will blow anyone's socks off...if we somehow get another 1st rounder that'd be a big win.

If Ottawa gets say they 8th or 7th overall and a team like LA, Chicago, or NJD get picks 3-7, I wonder what it would take for the Sens to move up. I imagine one of those teams would benefit from Askarov but wouldn't want to draft him that high. Would it be worth Ottawa's 8th overall and 2 2nds, or including the potential Pageau 1st?

With both SJ’s pick and their own, it would be disastrous if the Sens don’t get one of Lafreniere, Byfield or Raymond. The only way I’d accept that is if both picks come from my Tier 4 of Stutzle, Lundell, Drysdale, Rossi, Holtz and Askarov.

Can't see them taking Askarov. I think if they're in the 8-11 range they'll do what they can to move up. My pessimistic guess (and therefore probably most likely outcome) is that the Sens get 5th and 8th overall pick. They will try to move the 8th to get the 6th or 7th and it will cost a 2nd

If they already have a forward at 1, 2 or 3 and have a 2nd pick in the top 9, it wouldn’t be the worst decision to try and secure their G for the next 15 years in Askarov.

Hogberg, Gustavsson, Daccord, Sogaard. Won't take a goalie

D'Accord is second in rookie GAA and S% and is top ten in the AHL in front of a really bad defence. He'll be in the A next year where they'll likely have Jaros, Lajoie, JBD, and Thomson so he should improve next season

The Sens history of mishandling goalies is way more proven than any name you just gave me. I’m just saying Askarov shouldn’t be passed over at 9 if we’ve already got one of Lafreniere, Byfield or Raymond.

Sens history of Russians is also not very good with the exception of Volchenkov Wink

Pageau to Columbus or Arizona? Or does he stay?

I can't see him staying if the return is a 1st +

Also hearing Namestnikov being a cheap add for Edmonton

Namestnikov is a goner for sure and I think we’ll be surprised (in a good way) with the return.

One of Edmonton/Pittsburgh will acquire Toffoli.

Yeah Namestnikov has proven to be good in all three zones and a good PKer. Nice he's racked up a few empty net goals too.

I like the rumored pageau / hainsey trade with the isles. Indpendently hainsey probably fetches a 3rd and a conditional 2nd (1st if conditions are met) + bellows is fair value for pageau, though I'd probably try to hold of for Wahlstrom even if it means Ottawa adds a mid to low prospect going back

By rumoured you mean completely made up by Pierre Lebrun?

Yes. That's the one. It's seems oddly specific. Anyway, I like it with a few minor adjustments.

Leafs acquire G Campbell, F Clifford from Kings for Moore, picks.

Campbell is certainly an upgrade for the Leafs at the backup position.

Makes me think we can’t expect much for Anderson IF we move him at all.
