I have the solution: get NHL Centre Ice.

:D

Seriously, guys. I'm a full-time student (well, I was until two weeks ago, when I handed in my thesis), and I've been springing for CI for god knows how long. $200 on the year. I worked it out, and I figure I save about $1000 in bar tabs when I factor in all the Friday and Saturday nights I would otherwise be spending out.

Seems to me like if you're a big fan of the NHL, and you love watching the games, it would make sense that you contribute and make sure the NHL continues to thrive. Is one person watching the game illegally a big problem? Probably not. But if everyone watched for free, we wouldn't have an NHL for very long.

justin.tv is an option although it seems like lately they don't have many games.  Also, the streams aren't even compareable to atdhe

The atdhe feeds still contain the advertisements that the networks run to pay for almost all of the costs of showing that game.

I'm not going to pretend I know the percentage's on the NHL's revenues, but I'm guessing that the money NHL CI subscribers pay is a moderately significant sum to them, to say the least.

How many households across North America do you think have NHL CI? 1-2 million? More? Less? What ever it is, multiple that number by $200, subtract "handling" fees that I'm sure the cable companies pocket (I dunno, $50 a subscription?), and I'm guessing you're still left with a rather significant number. If 1 million subscribers, we're talking somewhere in the neighbourhood of, say, $150 million. That sounds like some significant change.

All I'm saying is, if you're an NHL fan, why not cough up the money, watch the games on the big screen in your living room, and (almost) never worry about missing a game ever again?
