Stockpiling picks as well.

They couldn't have trade Kobasew earlier, kept Ward over Morris and re-signed Kessel? Shrug Guess they know what they're doing.

Wild need scoring in a bad way, especially with Havlat out.

That 2nd could be almost a first, though. Coupled with the Leafs pick, it'd be as if they had four first round picks this draft (and a 2nd).

Kobasew is a Sens killer -- I won't miss him being out of the Conference. I'm puzzled, though. They'll have Wheeler and Weller as right-wingers. Confusing, no?

Is a 32nd more like a 1st, or is the 29th more like a 2nd? I'll be up all night.

Ya he is, not sad to see him go at all. Not sure what The Bruins are doign here but they are not as scary as they were last year, not even close. They look very ordinary.

That's just scary to think about

The 2nd rounder is for 2011, btw.

Anyone know anything about the prospects, btw? On the face of things, it looks to me like BOS ran away with this trade (again).

Why would they? Kobasew is better than any of those picks/prospects.
Fallstrom is a decent prospect that have average skating and the other one I have no idea, but I'm pretty sure none of them are gonna take Joe COlborne's spot in the future...

Ah.

Well, Boston's collection of picks is still impressive.

Looks like a slight bit of a salary dump to me if anything. Perhaps Boston is clearing room and money for someone else.

This is good news. The pick seems to be more of a future consideration for Boston. I'm not really sure why they would make this trade now. That said, perhaps, as another poster mentioned, they're clearing space for another deal that's already in the works. Either way, I'm less worried about the upcoming Bruins game now that Kobasew is gone, though Tim Thomas always seems to bring his A-game against the Sens for some reason.

Disagree. And it's not like I'm the only guy saying so:

This isn't the first time we'll hear this debate, but there's definitely an argument for both sides. One the one hand, the Wild get a player that has proven he can score 20+ in the NHL, regardless of his slow start. On the other, the Bruins get cap space and prospects, plus a 2nd rounder. Not that they need to rebuild, but they will have a ridiculous draft in 2010. That is, of course, unless they are stockpiling picks and clearing cap space to make a big deal. If that's the case, this was a great move for Boston. Otherwise, I personally don't think this move helps them now so much as in the future.
