The last thing to go will be perks such as corporate suites and club seats for higher-ups.
Gary "The Cheshire Cat" Bettman will keep saying everything is groovy and reported revenues will reflect that as well. The cap moves very little, if at all, says I.
Alrighty, then. Get your bookmarks out and set your calendars to June 2010. It's on!
The cap falls to somewhere between $52-54.5 mil, says I -- escrow funds excluded from the picture, of course.

I did. I thought they had cleaned things up a little more and brought in some extra top 6 talent, but they have not. Indeed, they've LOST a top 6 talent in Prospal. Bring in Tanguay and you're at about the same place you were with Prospal.
At least Ohlund and Hedman are coming in. Meszaros and Ranger are both young and have potential. Foster may or may not come back, but I like him.
Mike Smith is the key here. If he's healthy, good things can happen. The playoffs? If I were Tampa Bay, I'd have my sights set firmly on 11th this season. Small, learning steps.
You heard it here first...Spez has predicted the Bolts to finish 11th.
Now, if as SSF says, the Bolts sign Bilderberg...watch out. Undrafted, but that kid comes from a helluva hockey family. Murder in the corners.

Re: How much did TB actually improve?
They look great tonight. It's only pre-season, but there's already touch-passing going on between their players.
St. Louis' goal was just an absolutely incredible shot. If you get the chance to watch in in slo-mo, do.

They're at about the same place offensively, plus or minus the change in Stamkos' game. And Hedman and Ohlund are two fantastic additions.
It says here the Bolts challenge for a playoff spot this season.

Re: How much did TB actually improve?
I put them in 6th in the conferance so...
Nothing surprising watching them tonight. Lecailvier, St Louis, Stamkos up front, Ohlund, Hedman, Ranger, on the blue line, and a duo inbetween the pips that rivals anyone in The East, playoff team.
People will take notice of Mike Smith this year. Next to Lendqvist, I think he will be the best goaltender in The EC this season baring injury obviously.

I think he'll be one of the best. I wouldn't necessarily put him over Brodeur, Ward, Thomas, Miller etc. just yet.

I really think this will be the guy who totally breaks out in 2009/10. No one in the East can handle the puck like him besides brodure, he has the size, quickness, so on to be great IMO. If there was a breakout player of the year award, I would make him my favorite this year.

I don't know who you came to that conclusion from those facts. I fully believe they're a legit playoff team.

Re: How much did TB actually improve?
Also, besides Ovechkin and Kovulchuk, is there a more dangerous winger in the league then St.Louis? That guy is always getting chances and is still one of the most under rated players in the NHL. How can a cup champ, former hart trophy, richard trophy, art ross trophy winner still be under rated? The guy is the best winger Canada has, I said it!

Absolutely is. The guy is a great player and I love watching the guy play, he's amazing. Canada's best winger for sure, better then Nash, better, then Heatley.
