Crap, now *I* want to go. But we're getting a puppy so there goes our money and time.

Updated for 2018.

Yeah, I think we're honing in on Punta Cana.

I’m getting a cat and I can still go. Maybe it’s time to cut one of the kids loose prags Sarcasm

Why do you think we're getting a dog -- we've had it up to here with them.

So I pulled the trigger and booked Chic Punta Cana. As far as adults-only resorts go in Punta Cana, there's a few to choose from and they all seem pretty similar.

Our first Mexico vacation (Cancun) was 2 weeks. First night was at a "family-friendly" resort. Seeing unattended 12 year olds playing pool past midnight really turned me off. Next morning we got transferred to its sister resort, an adults-only Sandals. We were only there for the rest of the first week, and had to return to the original one for the second week.

Some differences.

There was a Disney channel in the family resort; that same channel in the Sandals was Disney until 10PM, at which time it abruptly changed to porn. *Very* abruptly.

The beach was much nicer at the Sandals. The whole resort was self-contained. At the family one the nightly shows were in a field across the street.

The room at the family one was significantly nicer. Huge. Too bad we didn't spend much time there.

The Sandals beach had a separate section for "clothing optional". It was mostly full of older European ladies. The regular beach still had nudity but of a younger, more North American variety. IOW no-one was enforcing anything.

One night at the Sandals they had a ladies-only show (Chippendales). I stayed in our room and watched, umm, Disney (hey, it was, more than 20 years ago).

Have fun!
