I was thinking that too, but as Eklund would say....DOMINOS!!!

I think DD will be busy, perhaps not as busy as previous years, but I think there will be more trades simply because there seems to be more buyers this year, and there are never a shortage of teams who look to shed a contract.

I have a hard time trying to understand this. DId Stewart or EJ want out or what?
Value-wise it makes sense, but there's serious potential for regrets from both parties here. Colorado don't have anything resembling Stewart, same thing for STL regarding EJ.

I think STL is clearing the deck for a deal involving Kovalev and David Perron.

more to come

Pietrangelo? I don't watch STL all that much, but by all accounts, Pietrangelo has been outplaying EJ.

Bahaha. I didn't even consider that. I mean deadline day of course.

Offensively yes, he's way better, but in terms of physical play it's not close from what I've seen.
They still have Ian Cole though, maybe they think he can carry the load.

From a COL perspective, I can'T find a single reason why they would trade Stewart for an upgrade on defense, it just doesn't make sense.
It's like trading Karlsson and a 30 goal Foligno for Doughty.

Agreed about the Colorado perspective. Despite giving up a 1st as well, I think STL wins this deal right now, but if EJ ever does become what he could, it might be a different story.

It's a pretty good deal for Colorado, the St. Louis part I don't get.

Stewart's a big boy and had a good season last year, but he can be replaced. EJ is considered, or was, a franchise defenceman.

I don't know that he can be replaced easily. The thing for me is that Stewart has already arrived, while EJ is still trying to live up to his billing.
