MSP, Karlsosn and Petersson have all grown a lot IMO.

Did Ottawa pick the right player?
Good point on Petersson, I hope they get him over here next year because I think this kid; most of all, would benefit playing under Alfie's wing.marakh wrote:MSP, Karlsosn and Petersson have all grown a lot IMO.

I do not regret that pick at all. I like MPS, but his hockey IQ could stand in the way of him becoming a consistent producer. He looks like a Swedish Michalek (which definitely isn't a bad thing but I think Cowen will end up as the better player).
yeah thats what I thought. I'd be surprised if he was less than 2 full seasons away from the NHL.RobbyJ wrote:Petersson looked a long way from NHL ready from what I saw at the WJHC.

Wait until he gets a read on NHL situations a little better and bulks up a bit - you won't believe what you're seeing. He'll OWN on the PP and deliver ridiculous passes 5 on 5. We wanted this kind of player and we got him and we're VERY fortunate.

Did Ottawa, and a lot of other teams for that matter, make a mistake with their pick? Karlsson selected 15th overall. Ottawa moved up two spots to secure the pick. Eberle taken 22nd overall. Who will be the bigger impact player? Will Karlsson ever be more than a 5th/6th PP specialist? Will Eberle be a bust or stud? Realizing Ottawa addressed their need at the time, still having a seemingly content Heatley and a productive Spezza and Alfredsson, is this the right pick looking back in retrospect?
Riprock wrote:Too bad that Eberle's stock is so high at the moment that the pendulum is clearly in swinging in the direction of the Oilers. Spezza for Eberle would be a no brainer for Ottawa at the time (would give Ottawa plenty of cap room, and signify the beginning of an overhaul and change of guard). But I think Edmonton has no intentions of moving Eberle whatsoever unless it is Crosby, Ovechkin or maybe Kovalchuk.

But Ottawa still could use a top line winger.
