Re: Dany Heatley quick hits
There are reports that this deal with the Rangers will be done tonight.
Apparently, they were talking at the draft (as seen on tv) and moving one of Drury or Gomez was key and Montreal were waiting to see what other options they had.
I'm still being told it's nowhere near what we were expecting. Perhaps Dubinsky and zherdev

Dubinski, Zherdev and what? There better be a pick because they're not taking any salary back.
Maybe Montreal wants Smith and Schubert?

Zherdev and Kovy together? Hmm...could be interesting and could be extremely frustrating to watch...Dubi replaces Vermette I guess but you would have to think they'd be throwing a 1st in there as well......either way, I don't think Murray considers this one for more than a few minutes.

They better include more than that, I like Dubinsky yes, I absolutely despise a player like Zherdev, but then again, with Kovy here, who knows how russians will react? Kovy being here is good for Zubov, maybe he won't bolt to the KHL.

Nowhere near what we were expecting???
Does that mean in terms of quality coming back? Or just differentet names than we were hearing earlier? Hopefully not a combination of both?????

I guess if our expectations were a good, but unproven, forward and a piece of Dung Dubinsky and Zherdev would fit the bill for sure.

Just to note, this rumour was from June 30th. Rangers are not at all interested anymore.SeawaySensFan wrote:notch4077 wrote:jamvan wrote:I'm still being told it's nowhere near what we were expecting. Perhaps Dubinsky and zherdev

we are in no rush when it comes to heatley, as long as he is dealt prior to the season starting, so Murray can sit back and let other GM's come to him.

Hahahaha. One of the funniest movies in years. Robert Downey Jr was the Dung in that movie. I almost pissed myself everytime Tom Cruise came on.

If you're a fan of Chris Farley's "Motivational Speaker" skits from SNL you'll find this amusing:

I find the lack of credible swirlings troubling.

SensBuzz has posted the following:
"
Late midnight, I had been informed that the Minnesota Wild have put forth an offer that may be too good to pass. The Wild are the third team to offer a package for the servcies of Dany Heatley. The first two were the Oilers and the Sharks. Bryan Murray is trying to get a Top 4 Defenseman and a Second Line Centre out of it. Ther two positiosn are the Sens' most glaring needs currently. So, do you want know the offer? Drum roll pleaase! Ba dum ba!
Wild acquire: Dany Heatley
Senators acquire: Marek Zidlicky, Pierre-Marc Bouchard, 5th round pick in 2010
So, just to preview the previous two offers made for Heatley...
Oilers acquire: Dany Heatley, Jason Smith
Senators acquire: Andrew Cogliano, Dustin Penner, Denis Grebeshkov
Sharks acquire: Dany Heatley, Chris Kelly
Senators acquire: Joe Pavelski, Marc-Edouard Vlasic, 3rd round pick
"
Just for fun ( assuming thee are remotely true) what would YOU choose if you were Murray...err...Melynk (as he's probably making the call on this one)
my personal choice would be for the Edmonton deal.....but we all know how that went!
Thoughts?

I don't want to be cynical, but after the Auld/Russell rumour, and after reading other comments on that site, I have a hard time putting much stock in the info put forth on SensBuzz.
Anyway, not a great return at all, especially since we get jack in terms of picks / prospects, but at least Zidlicky would come off the books next year if he doesn't figure in long term.
That means that this potential deal has at least the benefit of cap flexibility looking forward, which the EDM deal (with the Penner anchor) did not. Personally, tho', PMB is not a player I'm really interested in.

Re: Dany Heatley quick hits
I'm not even sure why Murray would really press for another defenceman. We have far too many already and have three great players in the pipeline. I would much rather have a couple of forwards in the deal.
