Kubina to ATL for Exelby
According to TSN, a deal is in place that will send Kubina from the Leafs to the Thrashers for a package consisting of Garnett Exelby.
EDIT:
Done deal - Toronto gets Exelby and Colin Stuart, Atlanta gets Pavel Kubina and Tim Stapleton.

Yeah, looks like it's done.
Hopefully they didn't get Atlanta's first round pick.

Diddle.Great trade for Toronto. Coupled with the Komi signing (and potentially the Gus signing) they've done some really good things for their team this season.

Re: Kubina to ATL for Exelby
While I agree their defence is going to be strong and physical, they won't be the most mobile nor will they be able to carry the puck. Only guys they (still) have are Kaberle (who will likely be moved for a scoring top 6 forward) and Ian White.

Finger can move the puck a little, Van Ryn was decent before getting injured again.

Burke is doing it the right way, building from the back end out. Although the defense lacks mobility, it isn't going to be dreadful with the puck.
How scary would that blue line be if Burke decides not to move Kaberle?

Couldn't they trade Kaberle to Carolina for a decent forward prospect and maybe Gleason?

Garbage trade. Wow, just shockingly bad. Kubina is so much better than Exelby, it's not even funny.
Burke...makes a bad one here.

If they wasn't, there absolutely should have been. This is a very solid D-man. One of my preferences to acquire personally. Obviously we weren't getting him from TO, but I hoped there was some way to get him.
I'm not devastated, but what TO got back for a guy like that is not very good IMO.

Really? Why do you say that?
He's a big, big dude who can pass and has a cannon of a shot. He had back to back 40 point seasons in TO passing to...absolutely no one. Imagine him on the back end with Kuba? Really great puck movement, big bodied and guys that can make plays at a quick pace.
I think people really underrate this guy. Basically the same way I used to underrate Kuba.
