SpezDispenser (formerly 504Heater)
Well...I used to frequent HockeyBuzz all the time. I would spend a lot of my posting time there and I found the same group of people were the people I was conversing with all the time. There were others though - and they always loved to get into little arguments - all the time. It started to get more and more annoying to me personally. Personal attacks, unmoderated rubbish, swearing, "the Sens suck!" and when you'd ask why, they either run away or say 'they're a one line team'. Trying to explain that we actually had a pretty deep team (it was sweeet validation when we went to the Cup) go really frustrating and I realized pretty quickly that 80% of those people didn't know what the heck they were talking about.
So Clutch, Cronie and I were having a conversation on like...the 99th page of KLee's 'latest' thread - which was weeks old. And one of us suggested that we start our own site for hockey talk. We all agreed - and there was actually a 4th guy involved: Jamvan, but he had to leave to work on another sire - and Clutch put it into motion. Once he had set it up, Cronie and I helped him with the layout and we started to post and post and post and post. That's one reason what I have 8000 posts or whatever it is, there was no time to lose. If we were going to do this right and have a successful little site, there had to be threads aplenty as well as good articles/blogs to read.
I haven't blogged as much as I'd like to, but them's the breaks when you're not getting paid. I like posting, but I like to blog as well. More will come soon enough.
I've had excellent convos with almost all of you at one time or another, but some of you I'm still getting to know and vice versa.
As for the name, it used to be 504Heater and that was a name I held quite dear. When Marian Hossa got traded for Dany Heatley, I felt the same way as I did when Muckler signed Hasek. Is this player damaged goods? It turned out that he could score when given the opportunity to play with a playmaking center and a legend like Alfie. 50 goals his first year - barely. The nickname was born.
The second year he did it, I felt as if there was no plateau he couldn't reach. 60? 70? Was 80 an option? Who knew? Then he got destroyed by Draper and he was literally never the same. He still scores, but he's become 'common folk' among NHL snipers. Actually not even as feared as most of the 40 goal men out there. But I still loved him (although, I'll admit, last season I wanted him to be traded, I would still stand by him of course).
Until yesterday at 11:00 or whenever the bombshell broke. Heatley wants to be traded does he? Well then, Diddle you Bionic ****weed. I've defended you long enough, supported you long enough, bought a hat with your name, a shirt with your name (I thank goodness that I didn't buy that jersey with his name...
), I had a picture of you on my wall (which I tore up last night), a mini-jersey, my fiance Melanie has pictures of the Sens all over the walls downstairs (yeah, we're cool as Dung), and now we have to surgically take out every one with a one-eyed bionic, gap-toothed loser in in.
So, where to go from here? Do I take the obvious route and use AlfieforHart or something pedestrian like that, or do I use the nickname I've been toying with since I heard: SpezDispenser.
And you know what choice I made.

Hey, Dispenser, you misspelled your handle *and* formerly all in one subject line
I still think that 74Lee would have been a heck of a lot funnier.

Can't we still make trades, or do we have to wait until the Cup is handed over?

I believe there has to be a one week grace period after the cup is handed over, but BM could have something in theory worked out, just not on paper.

Re: SpezDispenser (formerly 504Heater)
By the way, Heater 'spenser, did something just change with the banner ads? My CPU fan is going nuts and I see that the banner ads up-top are scrolling around wildly. Have pity on those of us who have little puny e-Machines.
Although I had to upgrade to a video card (over the on-board one) so my son can play Sims 3, and I just got my 2nd GB of RAM. Incidentally, NCIX.com is running a promo where express shipping is $10. I ordered late yesterday afternoon and received is about an hour ago.

may I steal your computer, my wife wants sims 3 and my piece of junk at home won't run it, and I would have to upgrade the motherboard in order to get a PCI express video card.

Oh, by the way, that's my suggestion for your new nickname of nickname -- 'Spenser, short for Dispense, of course. You can be Spenser for Hire as well.

If you wish. Either way, it's gonna take me another 5 years to get used to it - and by then Spezza might be on his way out. :gg:
New NHL. Diddle. I'm never buying another jersey. I have a black one from the good old days with
That's do. I'll buy shirts from now on, screw this noise. :gg:

I changed the affiliates into a scrolling anouncement. I personally like it.

You don't need a PCI-Express card. My PC didn't even have an AGP slot but I managed to snag a GeForce FX 5200 PCI locally, for $35. I was looking for a long time, though.
The card you need has to support Pixel Shader 2.0. Wikipedia has a table of which cards support it:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pixel_shader
If you have an AGP slot (same size as PCI, but set back and brown, instead of white) then your options are much moe open than mine.
Just go to ShopBot.ca and type the name of a card (e.g. "geforce fx 5200") to look for best online deals. In my case I could not find anything in the price range I'd set for myself, but at least I had a ballpark. Then I googled "ottawa computer stores", found a page with links to several, checked their inventory online and about 2 hours later I had my card. And a lot cheaper than the onle places.
NCIX.com has a GeForce FX 5200 AGP for $25 (that's including the $11 instant rebate and a $10 MIR). They'll ship it to you for $10 overnight. That card has VGA and S-Video out. If you have a newer LCD monitor and need DVI, then you'd probably need to look for a slightly different model. Or, if you have an older monitor, like me, then be wary of DVI-out, since you may need a DVI-I to VGA adapter (those are about $6 online, but make sure you get the right orientation -- M/F or F/M).
