Well, the bottom two teams get together tonight in what is being coined "The Basement Bowl". Will a Leafs loss tonight re-ignite the "Wilson Death Watch"? How long until Burke starts to deliver on his promise of accountability by bringing up some youth and sending down some of the veterans?
"Over the last few months, there's been a lot of speculation that the cap's going to go down 20 percent. That's absurd. That's just made-up. It isn't going to happen," Bettman said. "I think it will be somewhere near where it is ($56.8 million), up a little, down a little, somewhere near where it is."

Looks like Al Strachan is out of the Hot Stove and into the fire.

On Tuesday, Usual Suspects received the following e-mail from Jeff Keay

of CBC: “Hot Stove has a number of guest contributors who we rotate

through the lineup. At this time, we've made the decision to take Al

out of the regular rotation and to use some of the other personalities

we've added to the broadcast over the ...

Should they review the puck hitting the netting before a goal?

I saw this on TSN.ca and I couldn't help but wonder if the answer is as obvious as I think it is.

http://www.tsn.ca/columnists/darren_dreger/?id=295526

I personally don't think it should be reviewed. Do players stop playing when they're sure it's an offside or an icing call? Sometimes they do. Do players stop jabbing at a puck, covered by the goalie? No not usually.

The answer is quite simple. If there's no whistle KEEP PLAYING. Shouldn't that be a no brainer?

Well it is too late now, as I see that Pepsi.ca has narrowed it down to 3 finalists... and I never get things done on time, but my suggestion would have been for Canada's chant to be the classic Canadian folk song/camp fire/First Nation's song "Land of the Silver Birch" that I'm sure we all know from elementary school.

The chant would have gone... "Boom diddy boom boom, Boom diddy boom boom, boom diddy boom, boom, boom"

Kind of fitting, since it is a truly Canadian ...

A word from the guys at CrashtheCrease this afternoon, reminding people that there will be a live hockey discussion tonight from 9PM to 11PM. They're all good guys, so if you wish to get involved, by all means, please do (it's free of course).

Also, if you visit the site to read my newest blog, you'll notice that GMHockey is on the main page header with a link - so, these guys hold their word as well. The more exposure for GMH, the better obviously...because...we all kick arse here.

Lastly, ...
