My GUESS is ~8 yrs for ~$64M from Edmonton or Vancouver. I think he would be a nice fit in Philly but they have cap problems. Even if they didn't he would take a haircut to play close to home. Again all just me surmising from what I have read. No sources...

That would make JayBo the highest paid d-man in the NHL, yes?

Yeah, Heatley was the highest paid (1 year) forward in the league this year @ $10M... 366 day grand total of $14M! So I guess best doesn't necessarily = highest paid.

Yeah, like I said...it's all about supply and demand.
BTW, when fans grouse about how the Rangers supposedly 'overpay' their UFAs, they forget that Sather has to pay extra, (1) to get the players to come to a very tough hockey market (2) because the cost of living in NYC is astronomical.
According to a Mercer Consulting report, New York City is the most expensive place to live in North America. The cost of an apartment is staggering. From Bloomberg:
Manhattan apartment prices surged 30 percent in the second quarter, the fastest pace in five years, as a robust economy, falling mortgage rates and scarcer offerings spurred New Yorkers to pay more for a home.
The average price increased to a record $1.32 million from $1 million a year earlier, as apartments with four or more bedrooms doubled to $10.6 million, according to a report published today by Miller Samuel Inc., the borough's largest appraiser, and real estate brokerage Prudential Douglas Elliman.
Try raising a family in Manhattan.

Howie, I like Drury as a player, and IMHO he would be a very good fit in Ottawa...but just my opinion.

I think so too you know, the ranger would however have to throw another nice piece in, and i'm sure it would be in their best interest .....

Well, not to wander too far 'off topic' (cuz this IS a JayBo thread, heh heh)...the Sens don't have the cap room for much else if they do a Heatley-Drury swap...so I doubt it would happen.
As MOI points out, Jay could get as high as $8MM, so there will probably be some crazy money thrown around...so the teams who have cap room seem to hold the cards this year.
Should be a FUN weekend.

He would be a great fit roster-wise. Horrible fit cap-wise. I coveted him when he was with Buffalo. Then he was a play-off machine. He went to New York and his salary turned me off. Kinda like finding out Pamela Anderson has Herpes...

As Patrick Ewing once said.."We might make a lot of money but, we also spend a lot of money."

Interesting that it appears that Spezza only has a full NTC for 1 year. It is limited after that.
