BLOG: There Will Be Blood

There Will Be Blood

Starting when the first puck drops in the rookie tournament and moving right into training camp and the pre-season comes a battle of epic proportions. Let’s be fair here: this is the NHL that these guys are competing for. The Show...the place every young hockey player aspires to be.

Unfortunatly we need someone who can fight in todays nhl so Neil's got a job for sure. but i hope Foligno, Lee and Picard make the team but i agree it's gonna be a battle for these young players witch i think is gonna work out better for us in the end!

I guess the bright side is, they'll be pushing themselves really hard in Bingo to be the first call up. Otherwise, there's really zero chance these guys can land a spot - unless there's still a trade coming.

I have a feeling Murray is weighing his options on McAmmond quite carefully right now.

I kinda hope not i like McAmmond even though it's true he's a little expensive for a 4th line center.

Yeah, me too.
Also, Nycholat's name is not on the current Sens roster on Senators.nhl.com...even Picard and Kuba are there...as well as all of our other defensive prospects.
I've been pretty sure Nycholat wouldn't be here in the fall and this does nothing to change that belief.

Really? Huh...I wonder if we just acquired a 6th round pick for him. What a waste IMO. What more did he have to show? Meh...whatever.

Not much, I suspect...
If we can even get him off the roster - with that one-way contract of his - without buying him out or having to entice another team into taking him, I would be very pleased.

That's a shame. I always saw him as a left handed Preissing if given the opportunity.

It's hard to push my personal bias aside, but I would hope Murray moves McAmmond before Schubert personally.

I still think there's another trade and or signing on the horizon for the Sens... I'll have to start digging again! LOL FUN FUN!!

Nycholat had a fantastic season in Bingo last year with 49 points in 77 games. I know that AHL success doesn't always translate into NHL success, but those are pretty impressive numbers. If we have no room for him, then I think we'll be able to find someone who can use him.

In any event, presumably 1 of our 8 D has to go -- I imagine we'll hold onto a 7th for depth purposes -- and that's going to come down to either Nycholat or Schubert (unless we decide to play him at forward again). Schubert would obvious net us the better return. Picard is not going anywhere.
